I'm successully installed at the Rambuttri Village Inn in Bangalamphu -- the same place I stayed for a few days last year. It has the special benefit of a rooftop swimming pool, where I hope to chill out a bit over the next few days. Later today I will be checking out what the chances are of changing my return flights. Ayumi is in the nearby Merry V, but we are still travel buddies and had breakfast together this morning before a walk along the local riverside.
Our last day in Hanoi turned out to be very enjoyable. Our new friend Trang showed us round the museum of Vietnamese ethnology. She and Hien have both been extremely kind and helpful in many ways these last few days and have helped leave us with a very positive view of the Vietnamese people.
PS. Congratulations to Air Asia for another flight where they simply take off on schedule and land 10 minutes early - without blowing any fanfares!

I'll be doing some more travelling this year, starting with a return to Nepal in mid-March. I aim to do the Everest Base Camp trek, as well as some work on behalf of the WDT/NMV - a trust which runs a school for adult women in Kathmandu. After a couple of months in Nepal I intend to head for Lhasa in Tibet and then travel through southern China and return to VietNam. I'll update the blog from time to time, especially if there are any Yeti sightings - but don't get your hopes up too much!

The literacy rate amongst women in Nepal is something like a pathetic 35%.For men it is 63%. The Women Development Trust (WD Trust) is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to improve this by providing educational opportunities for women of all ages
Maybe it will help buy a few books, or be a step towards the first computer or printer. Maybe it will help pay the teachers a decent wage or assist with the provision of better training for them.
